Nigerian missionary killed

Fr Dennis Osuagwu, also a Catholic priest was killed in a road ambush in Nekede, southern Nigeria, according to the Fides news agency.

According to his religious order The Claretians, the police suspect the incident may have been caused by a dispute at the school where he taught.

He worked at the General House of the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and was also on the staff of Imo Polytechnic School, in Enwerem.

According to Nigerian press, Fr Osuagwu was killed while travelling on the Nekede Avu Road.

Religious leaders said: "At the moment we have no further information regarding the circumstances of our brother's death," according to Fides.
