Jane Fonda refused to take Jesus' name in vain on TV, show co-creator says

Producers changed dialogue at the actress's request, the co-creator of Netflix series Grace and Frankie, Marta Kauffman, has revealed

Eighty-year-old Fonda stars alongside Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston in the comedy as a retired cosmetics businesswoman whose life is turned upside down when her husband is unfaithful.

Kauffman was quoted by The Hollywood Reporter as saying: "These four actors are the most professional, glorious people I've ever worked with. I love them.

"So when they have an issue, it's not that they're being divas. It's not that they're being self-important. They have a real issue."

Fonda spoke in a personal blog nine years ago about her decision to become a Christian, saying: "My faith is a work in progress (as am I) but I will plant my flag on the belief that God lives within each of us as Spirit (or soul).

"I believe that Christ was the personal incarnation of the divine wisdom in everything, including every form of spiritual expression."

Kauffman, 61, was speaking as a member of the panel at an event organised by the Paley Center for Media in New York on Tuesday.
