‘It’s a supernatural movement of God’: Family of Christian woman in coma fuelled by faith of thousands praying for her

by Tola Mbakwe

The sister of a young Christian woman who’s in ICU “fighting for her life” says their family has been spiritually strengthened by the amount of people that are praying for a miracle.

Hannah Montagu from Bath suffered a brain haemorrhage on Sunday.

She’s in a coma, and her sister Abbie Young said doctors gave her until Tuesday morning to show improvement otherwise they would start end of life care.

However, Hannah is showing improvements by moving her arms and legs after having surgery.

“We've seen small little movements,” Abbie told Premier. “So they are giving us more time so she can rest and she can fight.”

Due to coronavirus restrictions, Hannah’s family haven’t been able to visit her in hospital. Abbie said all they felt they could do was pray and invited people to join in.

They’ve been holding praying meetings on Zoom every day at 10am and 8pm and have allowed anyone to join in.

“It’s just kind of blown up and it's incredible," she said. "We have thousands upon thousands of people praying for us. There’s little churches in the middle of nowhere also holding prayer meetings for Hannah.

“It's a supernatural movement of God, the way people have been moved in their hearts to pray for her.  The thing that's really comforted me is I've seen that this is so beyond Hannah. It's a movement of God and I really believe it's him asking us to wake up as a Church and have faith.

“We feel the faith. We can't really eat, we can't really sleep right now but we are powered by prayer because we feel the tangible presence of God as people cry out to him.”

A friend of the family also set up an online 24/7 prayer room, in which all slots are filled until Sunday so far.

Abbie told Premier her sister has an “incredible faith in God”.

“Hannah is kind of a woman who just had a steady faith from a young age,” she said.

“Hannah actually led me back to God when I walked away. She’s got a beautiful relationship with God, she trusts in him, she believes in him, and she really does just give her life to him. She’s an example to all of us.”

Abbie asked that people specifically pray for Hannah’s’ brainstem to be restored, as that’s a current worry for doctors treating her.

She also expressed gratitude for those who are praying for a miracle from God.
