Family crowdfunding to fly body of murdered Christian convert home

by Hannah Tooley

35-year-old Nasrin Abek was found dead inside her apartment in Potts Point in Sydney, last week after she was allegedly killed by her Muslim husband.

Amir Darbanou, 42, has charged with her murder.

The couple had been living in Australia for four years together.

Nasrin Abek had worked as a hairdresser and her family and friends have begun a fundraising campaign to send her body to Iran for burial.

One of Nasrin's friends said her family are "desperate" to have her body returned to her homeland.

On the page it says: "Her family [are] desperately looking forward to get[ing] their daughter's death body and ease their pain by bury her in Iran so they can go and say prayers for her.

"They haven't seen her for four years and now they just want to bury her death body back in her home country."

The page aims to raise $15,000 to send back her body.

The police were alerted to the death after Mrs Abek's father allegedly contacted them after receiving a phone call from Darbanou on Wednesday evening.

Amir Darbanou did not enter a plea or apply for bail when he appeared in Sydney's Central Local Court on Friday.
