Church funeral packed out for Michigan shooting victims

by Hannah Tooley

TV station WXYZ said First Baptist Church in Kalamazoo was filled to standing room only within minutes of opening its doors for the programme.

Mayor Bobby Hopewell spoke, urging people to come together as a community and to remember those who had been killed and injured.

Uber driver, Jason Dalton, 45, has been charged with six counts of murder as well as two counts of attempted murder.

According to police the rampage was random and is thought to have begun around 6pm on Saturday evening, outside an apartment complex, where a woman was seriously wounded.

Less than four hours later, a father and son were shot dead while looking at vehicles at a car dealership.

Fifteen minutes later, five people were shot in the car park of a restaurant.

According to The Guardian, taxi app Uber had received a complaint that driver Jason Dalton had been 'driving dangerously', but did not act on it.

One passenger, Matt Mellen, reported Mr Dalton for erratic driving and said he had called 911 after 'jumping' out of the car.

Speaking on Monday, Uber said it had not reviewed the feedback, which came in about five hours before the first victim was killed.
