Brian Houston's daughter and son-in-law plant new church

by Lydia Davies

Peter and Laura Toganivalu, son-in-law and daughter of Hillsong Church founders Brian and Bobbie Houston, have planted a new church in Sydney, Australia, named Parable Church.

The church has started in person Sunday services, although is yet to ‘’officially launch’’.

Weekly online services are in the pipeline to begin in April.

Reflecting on the atmosphere in the church Bobbi Houston wrote on her social media "Feels like home... @parablechurch @petertoggs @lauratoggs ... & ... delightful to be in the house with such lovely people. Bless you. Great word also, Mr. Toggs."

This initiative came amidst notable changes within the Hillsong community. Brian Houston, the church's founder and former global senior pastor, recently faced legal proceedings related to allegations of covering up his father's sexual abuse. However, he was found not guilty.

Brian had previously resigned from his position at Hillsong Church in March 2022 following a disciplinary sabbatical due to substance abuse issues and allegations of inappropriate behaviour toward women.

Yesterday Brian wrote on his social media ‘’we are so enjoying being part of this brand new and rapidly growing church family which hasn’t even officially launched yet. God is doing something special here”
