Blessings unleashed: roosters, dogs, and cats flock to church for blessing

by Lydia Davies

Catholics took their pets to be blessed at the Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Quito, Ecuador on Thursday 3rd October.

Roosters, cats, and dogs were all present to be blessed by Brother Jorge, the Franciscan Priest.

One X user who attended the event quipped: "It's bring your dog to Church day".

A video of the event, posted by Associated Pressshows a small white dog being held up for the blessing, surrounded by an estimated 100 plus furry friends.

Pet blessing services also take place in the UK.

On Sunday 6th October, Canterbury Cathedral are hosting their very own pet blessing servive.

In a post to X, the cathedral wrote: All animals must be kept on a leash or in a secure carrycase; Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pet.
