Gateway Church, recently renamed as Newlands Chuch, in North Texas, is facing another upheaval as its fourth pastor in just two months has resigned over an undisclosed "moral issue".
On Wednesday 21st August, the Church announced that Executive Pastor Kemtal Glasgow is no longer with the church.
In a privately listed YouTube video, Church elder Tra Willbanks confirmed the news, stating that Glasgow's departure was due to a moral issue that disqualified him from his role.
"Starting Monday, Kemtal Glasgow is no longer employed at Gateway," Willbanks said.
"We were informed last week of a moral issue that we believe disqualifies him from his position."
This resignation adds to the ongoing turmoil at Gateway Church, which began in June when it was alleged that the church's founder, Robert Morris, had sexually abused a 12-year-old girl in the 1980s.
Morris subsequently resigned, which was soon followed by the departure of his son, James, and wife, Bridgette, in July.
Despite the timing, the church insists that Glasgow's resignation is unrelated to the Morris scandal.
In response to Glasgow's departure, the church has expressed sympathy for his family.
In the video, Willbanks said: "We love his family, his wife, and his kids. We want to support them during this difficult time and help them find restoration and healing."
He also called on the congregation to pray for the Glasgow family.
Following Glasgow's resignation, the church announced a leadership restructuring, with Adena Wilson being promoted to oversee the campus pastors, effective immediately.
Willbanks expressed confidence in Wilson: "Adena is the perfect person to take on this responsibility, and she’s going to do a terrific job."
