'You are more than able': Spine-tingling worship moment as boxer Katie Taylor prepares for fight

Katie Taylor, Ireland's most famous sports star, proudly showed off her Christian faith as she battled for the undisputed light-welterweight world championship this past weekend.

The boxer lost her undefeated record in a loss to England's Chantelle Cameron on Saturday in front of a sold out 3Arena in Dublin.

In what was billed as her homecoming fight - her first in her native Ireland - Taylor walked to the ring to the sound of Elevation Worship's 'You are more than able' while dawning a jacket with the words 'Psalm 18' written on the back.

Normally, fighters choose songs more up tempo 'battle-esque' songs for their walk to the ring. Taylor instead used the time for worship with millions watching on.

Softly spoken Taylor has previously spoken about the impact her Christian faith has on her life.

Speaking to the Irish Times, she said: "I actually don’t know how people get through difficult moments without God in their life.

"That’s my anchor, my rock and there are definitely times I cling onto the word of God.

"One of my favourite verses is in the Book of Romans and the gist of it is that whatever you’re going through there’s a defining moment you can actually use for your benefit. I believe that.”

While Taylor came unstuck in her latest fight, she's expected to have a rematch later this year.
