US pastor responds to criticisms of 'perverse worldviews' after 'misogynistic' tweets about female modesty

by Sophie Drew

A US pastor has been caught in a whirlwind of controversy after criticising women for posting pictures of themselves in "low-cut shirts, bikinis, bras and underwear".

The tweet - written by Utah pastor Brian Sauvé - has sparked outrage, with some labelling his behaviour as "misogynistic".

He said there was "no reason" that anyone should need to post such photos; even if they are new mothers documenting their birth story, or sharing photos of their newborn babies.

His tweet said: "Dear Ladies,

"There is no reason whatsoever for you to post pictures of yourself in low cut shirts, bikinis, bra and underwear, or anything similar - ever.

"Not to show your weight loss journey.

"Not to show your newborn baby.

"Not to document your birth story."

He signed his tweet from "your brothers" - the closing statement fuelled further frustration from those that disagreed with his comments.

The #DearBrian hashtag has gone viral, with thousands of women sharing furious responses to the pastor's advice.

One commenter even criticised the pastor for having "perverse worldviews".

However, Pastor Brian is welcoming the criticism. He responded to the backlash with another tweet, saying: "So far, over 20 million people have seen my Twitter feed, several major news outlets have published an explicit presentation of the gospel from my Tweets, and Beth Moore outed herself (yet again) as a dangerous false teacher. The Lord writes the best stories."
