Trump's Christian advisor claims to have stopped tsunami

Pastor Frank Amedia from Touch Heaven Ministries has been working with the de facto Republican nominee on faith issues.

Time Magazine has uncovered a previous interview Trump's "liaison for Christian policy" gave, in which he claimed to have stopped a tidal wave hitting Hawaii through the power of Jesus.

He was "being very holy" while sleeping early in the morning on the day of the Japanese tsunami in 2011, he said.

"My wife stormed in and she said Frank, Frank, our daughter is on an island in Hawaii and the tsunami is going to crash into where she is in five minutes.

"I stood at the edge of my bed and I said, 'In the name of Jesus, I declare that tsunami to stop now.

"And I specifically said I declare those waters to recede."

He claimed the tsunami stopped 200 feet from the shore and turned onto a different island instead.

He has also courted controversy by stating that HIV and Aids were the result of "unnatural sex".

"We understand that many of the diseases that we receive is because of exposure that we have to things that we should not be exposed to, lifestyles that are unhealthy," he said in another interview.

After the 2010 devastating earthquake in Haiti Amedia's ministry provided aid to the country.

But when he visited the island he warned he could stop his supplies because Haitians were practicing voodoo.

"We wouldn't want to perpetuate that practice. We equate it with witchcraft, which is contrary to the Gospel," he told AP.

Donald Trump has been aiming for the Christian vote since announcing he was to run for the Republican nomination to be president.
