Trial date set for Euston church shooting suspects

by Sophie Drew

A trial date has been set for three men accused of being involved with a funeral shooting outside a church in London.

The drive-by attack took place at St Aloysius Church in Euston on the 14th of January.

Congregants had gathered to pay their respects to 20-year old Sara Sanches and her mother Fresia Calderon.

The former died in November 2022 following a three-year battle with Leukaemia. Her mother, 50, died in the same month, as she arrived in to Heathrow Airport, where she became unwell after suffering from a rare blood clot.

Their loved ones had gathered outside the Phoenix Road church when the shooting occurred.

Four women and two girls sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Alrico Nelson Martin, 19, from Kilburn in east London, was charged with possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life.

Two other men, Tyrell La Croix, aged 22, from Camden, and Jordan Walters, 23, from Brent, were arrested for conspiracy to murder.

A fourth man, 22, was released on bail pending further inquiries.

The three men will appear at Harrow Crown Court on the 8th of June for a plea hearing.

Their trial date has been set for the 11th of September 2023.
