'This is Christ-mas', says actor Tim Allen as new Disney+ series highlights Christmas' Christian roots

by Alex Collett

Actor Tim Allen, who played Father Christmas in the hit remake 1994 film 'The Santa Claus' says the new Disney+ series 'The Santa Clauses' will have more Christian roots.

Allen told The Wrap that he had a part to play with the new series in it reflecting Christ, he said: "It originally had a lot of otherworldly characters, and ghosts, and goblins.

"I said no, this is Christ-mas. Its Christ-mas. It literally is a religious holiday."

He continued: "We don't have to blow trumpets, but I do want you to acknowledge it. That's what this is about. If you want to get into Santa Claus, you're gonna have to go back to history, and it's all about religion."

The first three episodes of the six part Disney series, follows on from 1995 film 'The Santa Claus' and the first two have already aired.

Allen also stressed in an interview on The Kelly Clarkson show that "the heart of Christmas" is about "giving to others".
