Hollywood actor Terry Crews has spoken about his experience of infidelity and the role his wife’s love played in helping him confront his struggles.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star shared about his painful past during an interview on the What Happens Next? podcast with Dhar Mann, with the episode titled "Terry Crews: I Lied To My Wife For 20 Years".
Asked how he won his wife back after admitting to infidelity, Crews referred to a passage in the Bible about love covering sins. Crews referred to 1 Peter 4:8, which says that “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”
He explained that his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, continued to love him despite his infidelity and saw the person he could become beyond his mistakes.
Crews recalled a conversation in which his wife compared him to “a lion with a thorn in his paw”. He said: “I'll never forget when she said that. It was like she was there to help me pull it out.”
The Christian actor and former NFL player said his wife recognised his desire to change and supported him in becoming a better person. “She always saw me for me, you know? And she said, I see you wanting to be better, and I'm with you, and I want to help you do that,” he said.
“And I thank her to this day, man. Just thank, thank, thank her.”
Crews has previously spoken publicly about his struggle with pornography addiction, which he said he hid from his wife for two decades. During the podcast, he explained that the addiction led to infidelity, including a visit to a massage parlour.
He described the moment he confessed to his wife as a turning point in their relationship. The conversation nearly ended their marriage, but the couple worked towards reconciliation.
In a 2025 interview with TBN, Crews credited God for healing him from addiction and restoring his marriage.
