Supermarkets across the country have sparked widespread Christmas controversy as they have been selling cards that mock the birth of Jesus Christ.
Sainsbury's is one of the retailers that has been identified as selling cards seemingly using the nativity story to poke fun at the real meaning of Christmas.
Christian activist group, Stop Mocking Jesus, has been peacefully protesting outside of shops up and down the country, calling for an end to the targeted hate.
The group aims to put Christ back into Christmas by spreading the Gospel throughout the festive period, as well as targeting people who mock the church.
One member of the group said on social media: “I’m all for humour and having a good time at Christmas, but not at the expense of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ.”
He went on to add: “We all know this is not acceptable. If they were mocking other faiths and religions, we see the reaction would be a completely different course of action.
“As a result, we are doing a peaceful demonstration to show Sainsburys that millions of Christians believe this is unacceptable.”
The group say they have contacted the supermarket for a response and has been told an internal investigation would take place to identify the issues.
