Russell Brand has issued a statement on his social media following charges of rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault against four women.
In a video titled "my response," the 49-year-old comedian and actor said: "I was a fool before I lived in the light... But what I never was, was a rapist. I've never engaged in non-consensual activity."
Brand, who will appear in court on 2nd May, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to defend himself. The charges stem from an investigation launched in September 2023 after allegations emerged following a Channel 4 documentary.
The charges relate to offences committed between 1999 and 2005, involving four women.
The Crown Prosecution Service has reminded the public of the importance of a fair trial and cautioned against any prejudicial commentary.
