A Premier radio station is teaming up with some of the UK’s best gospel singers and Apple Music to champion black artists and Christian gospel music.
Premier Gospel, which is part of the Premier Christian Communication group, has spent almost ten years discovering rising talent in the music industry, and has streamed to millions.
Yesterday, London-based gospel choir The Spirituals took to White City to celebrate the opening of the Apple store, and the start of the project.
Premier Gospel will curate five playlists, ensuring there’s something suitable for every gospel music fan.
One such playlist is “My Story, My Song with Muyiwa”, in which decorated musician and Premier Gospel singer Muyiwa Olarewaju takes listeners through the favourite tracks of well-known artists within the genre.
He’ll be asking them for their favourite tunes and the message behind them, kicking off with the 2022 winner of ITV’s The Voice UK Anthonia Edwards.
The Playa’s Choice playlist will see more recommendations from big names, including Emmanuel Abiola, the musical genius behind grammy winner Burna Boy.
Other playlists will include Christian rap and drill music, as well as the powerful tones of some of the world’s best choirs.
You can listen to the playlists by searching for Premier Gospel in Apple Music.
