An independent publisher in Lithuania is trying to raise £9,000 in donations to create large family-sized Bibles with 1,600 pages that include more than 900 classic illustrations.
The small publishing team from Obuolys decided to celebrate its 1,000th published book with new King James Versions of the holy book.
They have already received nearly half of the money they are seeking via the fundraising platform Kickstarter to create "one of the world's most impressive Bibles ever printed in the XXI century".
The campaigns page explains: "Usually, Bibles are printed on a very thin paper - like dictionaries and encyclopedias. It's transparent and therefore difficult to read - technically the material is known as lightweight offset paper.
"To guarantee maximum quality and great reading experience we will use opaque, acid-neutral, non-fading archival quality paper, printed and sewn into binding to open flat and last for generations."
There are 750 exclusive copies with family's names on the cover available to pre-order with a pledge of at least £115.
