Two pastors with ties to Greg Locke’s Global Vision Bible Church near Nashville have announced their resignations, claiming that Locke created a toxic environment among church leaders that lacked accountability.
Justin and Kasey Greenwell, who are married, formerly served the church as online pastors. In a resignation post the couple shared publicly on Facebook, they claim Locke fostered an environment where “disagreement felt dangerous” and “accountability” simply did not exist, leaving them without a safe biblical structure in which to process conflict or concerns.
The Greenwells said they still wish Locke well and that their decision to leave was not made in haste, emotion, or frustration.
“It has come after years of seeking the Lord’s heart, examining our own, and weighing the things we have walked through behind the scenes,” they wrote. “Our deepest desire has always been to honour God above all else.”
In their resignation letter addressed to Greg and Taisha Locke, the Greenwells also accuse the pastors of financial mismanagement.
“You looked us in the eyes and promised that you would establish a board, open the financial books, and allow staff to take part in major decisions that shape this ministry,” they wrote. “But that day never came. Now, we are left facing a painful truth: you lied to us.”
Locke has notoriously made headlines for controversial actions, including burning books, hunting witches, and creating viral videos about COVID-19 and election conspiracies, as The Roys Report points out.
On their Facebook post, which received hundreds of likes along with dozens of comments and shares, many people applauded the Greenwells for speaking out and standing up for what they believe is right.
“Pastor Justin & Kasey, thank you for having the courage to share your truth publicly,” one person wrote in the comments, adding that they never felt welcomed or encouraged at the church.
“1000% truth. Justin and Kasey, thank you for speaking up for those who might have been too scared to do so, or who felt unable to,” another commenter said. “Some of us just dusted off the sand from our scandals and tried to move on, still broken for those who stayed.”
