One of world's best paid sport stars commits to church tithing

The Oakland Raiders quarterback, who's frequently talks about his Christian faith, was last week given a new five year contract worth $125m.

When asked in a press conference what he'd do with the money, he said: "The first thing I'll do is pay my tithe as I have since college."

He also spoke about how his money could help those in need - both in the US and abroad.

He's been praised by US Evangelist Franklin Graham. In a Facebook post, he said: "Derek isn't ashamed to talk about His walk with Jesus Christ - I appreciate his boldness!"

Satirical website Babylon Bee, ran a joke story that local Oakland churches were jostling to get Carr to attend their services.

The story was then tweeted by Carr's brother David's who suggested it was actually happening.

Carr is married with two children. He came to faith young after being brought up in a Christian home.
