Nuns and priest have epic snowball fight in Louisiana

by Lydia Davies

In Metairie, Louisiana, snow became the talk of the town, especially for a local priest and a group of nuns.

According to Fox Weather, the three Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia, newly arrived at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish, had been jokingly discussing the possibility of snow before Christmas.

At the time, the weather was hot and humid, with temperatures soaring to 75 degrees.

One of the sisters even encouraged her middle school students to pray to various saints for a winter wonderland.

To their surprise, those prayers were answered on when the Gulf Coast faced its most intense winter storm in over 120 years.

Louisiana experienced its first-ever Blizzard Warning, and the snowfall in Metairie was unprecedented—10 inches, compared to the usual 1-3 inches seen since 1895.

Amid the chaos of the storm, the same group of sisters who had prayed for snow found a moment of pure joy.

They swapped their rosaries for snowballs and engaged in a lighthearted snowball fight with Rev Tim Hedrick, a fellow priest at St. Catherine’s.

Hedrick, who had previously navigated weather challenges like playing tackle football during Hurricane Ida, said it was important to bring some fun to the community, especially during such difficult times.
