Revd Mother Dolores Hart gets to help decide who walks away with a statue after a former career as an actress - during which she starred alongside Elvis.
In the early 1960s she stunned Hollywood by announcing she was to give up her career as an established leading lady and become a nun.
She is now Prioress of the Benedictine Abbey of Regina Laudis in Connecticut.
"I made 11 films in Hollywood before God asked me another question, would you like to go and become a nun?" She said.
"I wanted no part of it, but he has his way of getting us to understand it.
"To do what he wants to do, can often complete everything you want to be."
Speaking ahead of the awards ceremony, that takes place in Los Angeles on Sunday night, she refused to say which way she'd cast her vote.
Critics expect Brit Eddie Redmayne to pick up best actor for his role in The Theory Of Everything which Sister Dolores said was "brilliantly done".
