Nicole Shanahan, who was Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s vice-presidential running mate in the 2024 US election, has revealed that she was baptised as a Christian after more than a decade of practising Judaism.
In a post on X, Shanahan shared the story of her spiritual journey, which began following a personal loss in September 2024. She was guided to Christianity by Diane Robinson, a devout Christian who helped her navigate grief and ultimately led her to embrace Jesus.
Shanahan wrote: "During that meeting, Diane opened her worn and well-loved Bible — filled with highlights, underlines, and Post-it tabs. A book that had been studied and prayed over thousands of times. She moved through it with laser precision, guiding me to verse after verse as I struggled to read through my blurry tear-filled eyes."
"The pain of life sometimes can consume your entire reality, and the injustice, the loss, and the extreme nature of it all can feel genuinely unbearable. The weight of the world, perpetuated by greed, lies, and indifference, can often feel hopeless. Diane looked at me and said with absolute certainty that Jesus could save me — that His blood is able to wash away sins and defeat the darkness that haunts the innocent," she continued, explaining that this moment led her to request baptism.
On 19th January, the day before President Donald Trump's inauguration, Shanahan was baptised in her backyard in Atherton, California, by Diane Robinson and her husband, Peter. Shanahan later shared a picture of her baptismal certificate, which listed both Robinsons with the titles "bishop" and "apostle."
Shanahan reflected that while her belief in God had always been present, it was only through recent experiences, including her time in the political arena, that she recognised the spiritual battle between good and evil. She now centres her faith on Jesus, describing Him as "the bridge between us and heaven."
Her post concluded with a message of hope: "Faith is not about having all the answers but about trusting in the One who does. And when you find Him, you will know you are finally home."
