Andi Rozier, former Vertical Worship band member and songwriter, has been fired from the worship team of a megachurch in the US for an alleged extramarital affair.
In a statement to Premier Christian News, Brian Newberg, executive pastor at New Life Church in Colorado Springs said Rozier had been immediately terminated “after we learned of his relationship with a woman from another city”.
Newberg said the church has already been communicated of Rozier’s dismissal and is “walking alongside his wife and children to help them heal”.
Rozier joined the church in February 2022 as part of the worship team. He was also the director of the church’s 24/7 Prayer as well as the worship pastor at New Life East.
Newberg confirmed Rozier “is no longer part of our pastoral team”.
According to The Roys Report, this is not the first time the worship leader has been involved in controversy.
During his time at Harvest Bible Chapel (HBC) in Chicago, Rozier was removed from ministry for moral reasons before being reinstated after counselling and discipleship.
In a statement on his website, James MacDonald, who pastored in HBC for more than three decades, confirmed this. He said: “As an unmarried worship intern at HBC, Andi Rozier was removed from ministry for moral reasons early in the 2000s.
“As far as we knew or were ever told, he ended that relationship immediately. He then returned to England for nearly 2 years, living in a loft above his home church and working hard to rebuild his walk with God. He did so, having no Harvest contact or indication he would ever return.
“After a long period of silence between us, the Elders agreed to invite Andi back on staff to work in production set up, which he did with great humility and no promise of ever leading worship again. After becoming engaged to Joanna and completing extensive counseling/discipleship, Andi was publicly invited to return to ministry during a weekend service themed around restoration.
“In this service Andi confessed to the entire Harvest family his story of failure and gradual, Elder supported restoration to ministry. I know nothing of Andi’s current circumstance and we have not had significant contact with the Roziers since leaving Harvest.
“We would welcome an opportunity to express our love and support for the entire Rozier family and assure them of our prayers for Gods healing upon everyone involved.”
