Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford has opened up about meeting his wife, actress Carey Mulligan, at a Christian camp where the pair first became pen pals.
Mumford is the son of John and Eleanor Mumford, who founded the Vineyard UK and Ireland church movement.
The Grammy-winning musician and the Oscar-winning actress, who are known for keeping their family life private, met at the camp when Mulligan was 12 and Mumford was 10.
"She still has the journal entry from the day we met," Mumford told the SmartLess podcast. "My cousin was there, who was two years older, who was age-appropriate for her. And he got an eight-and-a-half out of 10. But I, who was definitely not underlined boyfriend material, got a nine out of 10."
The couple married in 2012 and have three children together.
Mulligan has previously spoken about their decision to keep their relationship out of the public eye.
"Marcus is the only thing that's mine that I can keep totally away, so I try to," she told Vogue.
