Man who told Pope to read the Bible mocked on Twitter

Hans van den Hoorn, a Dutch radio presenter, was replying to a comment from the pontiff which called on Christians and Muslims to act as brothers and sisters.

He said: "Why don't you ask Muslims to convert to Christianity? Please read John 14:6." (sic).

That passage in the Bible reads: "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'."

The Dutchman faced a barrage of abuse for his tweet with one user asking: "Did u srsly [seriously] just ask the pope to read the bible?" (sic).

Another replied: "Well, if you had read the Quran, you'd realize that Christ is a Prophet there as well. So technically, they are".

But Mr van den Hoorn responded: "Muhammad cannot be a prophet of YHWH. His message contradicts the Biblical message."

The radio presenter also questioned on man who said Christians should convert to Christianity: "Read Holy Quran..The best book in the world..It will change ur faith..and u will go straight onto right path".

Pope Francis posted his tweet during a trip to the Central African Republic which has been beset with interfaith fighting.
