Man arrested for injuring priest in Florida

A man has been arrested for injuring a priest in a church in Florida.

A 45-year-old man arrived at Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church before the 8am service on Sunday and police said he hit a priest and was then seen with a firearm when police arrived.

The police said the man barricaded himself near the front door of the church and threatened to kill himself.

They evacuated the building and cordoned-off the streets and, after being talked to and negotiated with for four hours, took the man in for questioning.

The priest had to go to hospital but was out quickly and no one else was injured.
