Leader of one of Canada's biggest churches suspended following sexual misconduct allegations

Bruxy Cavey, the leader of Toronto's Meeting House Church has been placed on a leave of absence after sexual misconduct allegations were made against him.

In a statement to the Religious News Service, Maggie John, chair of the Meeting House board, said: "Bruxy has now been placed on a leave of absence while an external investigation takes place. 

"We take these allegations very seriously and are committed to a thorough and transparent process. We are praying through this situation."

The Meeting House has 19 campuses across Toronto.

Cavey is a renowned author and preacher with over 20,000 followers on Twitter.

He's a regular contributor to the Premier Unbelievable podcast and is known for reaching out to those who aren't naturally drawn to Christianity.

He is yet to respond publically to the charges.
