Lauren Daigle crowned Billboard’s Christian Artist of the year

by Tola Mbakwe

Lauren Daigle has been named Billboard’s Christian Artist of the year.

The singer-songwriter most known for her hit single 'You say' has also been announced as top female Christian Artist of the year.

Daigle released new music in May for the first time since 2018 and said it's been an incredible year.

She told Billboard: “New creative collaborators, a new producer, new writers and most of all new friends. Our fans on the road have been so incredible and we can feel their love and their energy every single night, and for me that connection [to our music] is inspiring.  I am so unbelievably grateful to them, to be able to do what I love and look forward to so much more in ’24.”

The 32-year-old’s new self-titled album is closing out the year at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums year-end ranking.

In a video message accepting the award she said she thanked God for allowing her to “put music out that reaches the souls of man”.

Meanwhile, for the first time, singer-songwriter Brandon Lake was crowned Billboard’s Top Christian Artist in the male category.

Elevation Worship got Billboard’s Top Christian Artists – Duo/Group award and Phil Wickham’s single ‘This is’ ranked No. 1 on the year-end Top Christian Airplay Songs list.
