Father Innocent Umor was abducted from his home in the south of the country but was released after two days in captivate.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Idah said in a statement the details of the priest's release were unclear and it's not known if a ransom was paid.
His abduction was not an act of terrorism, the diocese confirmed.
Local media claimed he was taken in the early hours of May 4th, when five armed men attacked the parish house.
Kidnappers demanded a ransom of 4 million Naira (around £12,900), according to reports.
