Keswick Ministries is speaking after more rain and flooding from Storm Eva hit Cumbria.
Appleby, Glenridding, Keswick and Kendal were the worst affected with rivers bursting their banks.
It's only weeks since these communities and others were flooded by Storm Desmond.
Many areas and families were still recovering from the previous tides before being hit again today.
23 flood alerts remain in place across Britain, and the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for northern England on Christmas Day lasting until the end of Boxing Day
James Devenish, the Project Director at Keswick Ministries, told Premier's News Hour: "It is quite extraordinary how resilient the people of Cumbria have been.
"Our hearts just go out to the people really because it really is a tragedy, what's happened.
"What has impressed me is how the town has pulled together to stand by one another - how the community, how the people, have cared for each other.
"We [Keswick Ministries] will stay alongside as the community rebuilds. We want to be there to support churches together, to support efforts going forward, because the floods affect our own people, our own homes, and our own places of employment.
"Pray for the people. They're exhausted. Above all they need a rest. And maybe to see that Jesus is that deep Sabbath rest that came into the world at Christmas."
