Joshua Buatsi won bronze in the light-heavyweight competition earlier in the week.
The 23-year-old from London said his faith has played a huge role in his success.
He said: "The Church has been very supportive.
"My sisters will send me videos of them praying for me, the pastor getting the whole church praying for me."
He went on: "When I'm here and I'm chilling and waiting for my next fight, it's encouraging to see things like that."
Joshua Buatsi said he prepares for his fights by reading Bible verses.
"There's scriptures in the Bible telling you to work hard, to remember that you're working hard for God," he said.
"When I'm going into the ring, we all have different ways of how we deal with nerves.
"I read scriptures from the Bible to encourage me and motivate me, to know that God's going to be with me in that ring."
He said there are scriptures which reference being "confident and courageous," which he focuses on.
God has surpassed all my expectation and the support from Great Britain and the world has blown me away. Thank you pic.twitter.com/zXbARNZYK2
