Leaders from both faiths have attended a joint blessing for the development earmarked for Newton Mearns in East Renfrewshire and ceremonial stones were laid.
The £18.2m campus will replace the town's current Jewish school, Calderwood Lodge, and will be an additional primary school for the Catholic community.

The service was attended by Rabbi Rubin from Giffnock Synagogue, Monsignor Monaghan from St Cadoc's parish (Rabbi Rubin and Monsignor Monaghan are pictured above), East Renfrewshire Council, the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council and pupils from Calderwood Lodge and St Cadoc's Primary School.
Father Thomas Boyle, the Catholic Education representative for East Renfrewshire Council, said: "After nearly two years of planning and discussion between the authority and the two communities, it's wonderful to see Rabbi Rubin and Monsignor Monaghan pray for God's blessing as the construction begins. May their blessings continue to be on both schools for the future."
Paul Morron from the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council, said: "The bringing together of new Jewish and Catholic primary schools on a single campus is a momentous initiative. It delivers a powerful message to the wider community that two different faiths can work in close cooperation.
Mhairi Shaw, Director of Education at East Renfrewshire Council, added: "The joint faith campus is an excellent example of our creative and sector leading approach to providing high quality education services and facilities shaped by the views of our residents and community partners.
