Jeb Bush courts Christian vote in Presidential bid

With polls showing him behind Donald Trump and Ben Carson in the Republican primary race, he's reached out to Christian supporters with the launch of a new group which will see him link up with a hundred church leaders to develop policies which would please Christians across the country.

Speaking at a Christian Broadcasting Network event at Virginia's Regent University, he said: "Religious liberty is being challenged today not just overseas but here at home, and people of faith need to stand on principle to protect the first freedom of the greatest country on earth."

Discussing the role of faith in politics he said: "How do you put aside your faith on the important issues that truly matter? I believe that people of faith should act on your faith and be informed by your faith."

During an interview with TV evangelist Pat Robertson he discussed how he came to faith claiming he realised Jesus was his saviour back in the 1980s.

He went on to convert to Catholicism so that he could worship with his wife and children.

Jeb Bush is bidding to follow his brother George W and father George Snr into the White House.

He'll find out whether he'll be given the Republican nomination in early 2016 before the election takes place in November that year.
