AINA has said that the group, who come from various villages in the Hasaka province near the Khabur river in northeastern Syria, are all in good health.

It is unknown how much was paid for the release of the hostages.

Estimates believe Islamic State still have around 155 of the 230 Assyrian Christians it captured from Hasaka province in February this year. Militants murdered three of the Hasaka hostages in September.

This is in addition to around 185 Assyrians it kidnapped from the central Christian town of Qaryatain earlier this year, and other groups and individuals it has captured during its Syrian campaign.

Below is a video of the hostages returning to the town of Tel Tamar.
