Indonesia church bomb perpetrators sentenced

Agus Satrio Widodo faces eight years in prison while his wife Damayanti was given three years and four months.

A West Jakarta court found them guilty of 'aiding criminal acts of terrorism' and 'being involved in a criminal conspiracy'.

It's unclear what their involvement was in the attacks which were carried out by a single family who died in the explosions.

At least 14 people were killed and more than 30 injured in the attacks, which were described at the time as the worst terrorist attack in Indonesia since 2005.

Welcoming the verdict, Benedict Rogers from religious freedom charity Christian Solidarity Worldwide said: "We welcome the decision to convict and jail these people for their involvement in the appalling Surabaya attacks.

"While the bombers themselves died in the explosions they perpetrated, it is important that anyone involved in the planning and preparation of the attacks is brought to justice."
