‘I’m staying out of it’: Franklin Graham neutral on support of Donald Trump’s presidential bid

by Kelly Valencia

US Evangelist Franklin Graham has said he will not be taking sides in the US Republican primaries in 2024.

During an event on Tuesday, the evangelist was asked whether he was supporting Donald Trump in 2024 elections. Last month, Trump announced he will seek presidency again in the next term.

Graham said:: “I’m staying out of the Republican primary and debate and that sort of thing.”

“I’m focusing on what God has called me to do, and that’s to preach the Gospel.”

The 70-year-old evangelist also denounced the US’ current political state of “hatred” and asked people to “turn to God and ask for wisdom”.

He said: “I’m just disappointed in politics in America.”

“When you think of the divisions that we have, we need to be coming together to try to solve the problems that we face as a nation.”

“It’s very disturbing to me, and I think the only hope for this nation is God and to turn to Him and to ask Him for His wisdom,” Graham added. “And that’s my prayer — that this nation will turn to God, because He’s the only one who can lead us out of the problems we’re facing."
