The 'We Are One' initiative took place from Salford Cathedral to Manchester Cathedral was planned 12 months ago but recent events spurred the leaders of different churches to hold the event.
Speaking about the timing of the walk so close to the General Election results, Linda Corrigan from the worldwide Christian community Maranatha told Premier: "Surely our nation needs the Body of Christ to give united leadership in these uncertain and turbulent times, especially following the recent atrocity in the city of Manchester."
The walk was previously held in 2000 and repeated in 2009.
