'How could I ever complain again?' - Jungle contestant Spears shares Catholic testimony with camp mates after nearly losing her daughter

by Will Hobbs

I'm A Celebrity contestant Jamie Lynn Spears has revealed that she became Catholic after she nearly lost her eldest daughter, Maddie, before being "given the miracle of having her back".

In 2017, the actress and singer's then-nine-year-old daughter got trapped in their pond and almost lost her life.

The younger sister of Britney Spears told her campmates: "I had a certain experience where I almost lost my eldest daughter. And she drowned and we couldn't save her.

"We tried really hard. She was trapped under like a little side-by-side that we ride around our pond."

Reliving the moment, she added: "My father-in-law, my mother-in-law, me and my husband we run to jump in to save her. And you kind of think in this moment, 'This isn't real. She's gonna pop up.' This isn't real.

"I could feel her arm and I'm jerking it but I couldn't get her up as it's a pretty heavy machine... You know logically she can't be underwater that long.

As help was on the way, Spears revealed her daughter "was not alive".

But three seconds later, the firefighter revealed her daughter Maddie had a pulse, and immediately, she was airlifted to hospital.

"She's hooked up on life support. And so they come in, one of the priests read her the last rites, her body physically sat up."

She added: "Little by little, she got better and better. And walked out of the hospital."

Spears said the experience now has "no repercussions" for her daughter now.

"How could I ever complain again - I was given the biggest gift I could ever be given".

Spears has previously posted on Instagram and X about owing her breaks in the music industry to God.

After her daughter's near fatal experience, Spears posted on X: “The hardest milestone me and my family have ever faced was almost losing our beautiful Maddie, but thanks to God and the two angels in this picture we were able to celebrate Maddie turning 9 years old together. This became a true miracle, and we are forever grateful”.
