The Facebook video shows the motorist's car driving through fast-moving flames on the highway near the town of Paradise where five people were found dead in vehicles that were torched by fire.
In the clip, the driver says, "That sucks, people are going to lose some houses" as a woman sitting in the back of the car cries.
The woman then prays: "Heavenly father, please help us. Please help us to be safe.
"I'm grateful for Jeremy and his willingness to be brave."
The couple in the car have since confirmed they are safe.
There are three major fires burning in California, with one destroying an entire town and killing nine people.
Officials say 200-thousand people have been forced to leave their homes, including the resort of Malibu, home to Hollywood stars.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump's claiming the "gross mismanagement of forests" is to blame for California's wildfires.
In a tweet, the President threatened to end funding for forest management unless things improve.
