A Christian non-profit group in Canada is suing Quebec City officials after they canceled American Christian singer Sean Feucht's show over the summer.
According to a Canadian publication, City News Everywhere, Burn 24/7 Canada alleges the city's actions are an attack on the rights to freedom of expression and religion. The non-profit was the organizer behind the singer's summer tour across Canada.
As Premier Christian News previously reported, Feucht found himself under scutiny amid his tour over his religious and political views on abortion, gender, and the LGBTQ+ community.
He encountered an issue with obtaining special event permits for his Let Us Worship: Revive in 25 tour. Municipality officials canceled at least six shows based on "health and safety as well as community standards and well-being."
Feucht considers himself a musician, missionary, author, and activist who is closely aligned with U.S. President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.
In its lawsuit, Burn 24/7 Canada is reportedly demanding $5,000 in damages from the city and roughly $2,600 as reimbursement for venue expenses.
"We all have a fundamental right to express our opinions, regardless of whether they're popular or not," John Carpay, president of the Justice for Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, told City News Everywhere.
He added: "Your opinion might be shared by only one per cent of the population. It doesn't matter if it's shared by one percent or 100 percent, you have the right in a free country to speak out your opinions."
