Mr Farron has faced intense pressure about his Christian faith and his Biblical beliefs about homosexuality since being elected the leader of his party.
The MP abstained on the vote to legalise gay marriage in England and Wales, although has since said he regrets this and would vote in favour of the change now.
His views on gay people has been the subject of much debate, but Mr Farron has refused to outline his Biblical thoughts on the issue.
Questioned by Channel 4 News if he thought homosexual sex was a sin he refused to answer three times, instead saying that everyone was a sinner.
On Sunday, speaking on BBC One's Andrew Marr programme he was again questioned about his views.
"Let me be crystal clear," he said, "I am a liberal and I absolutely support equality and I'm passionate about LGBT plus rights, for example."
He added: "As the leader of a liberal party that is something that will be at the top of my agenda throughout the time I am leader of the party."
He said there were areas where the law had to be extended and that equal marriage should also be available to transgender people.
"I am absolutely in favour of equal access, under law, for all people, whatever their sexuality," he stressed.
Mr Farron also said he did not think Christians were "put down" by the media.
