Faith leaders celebrated for role during Ebola crisis

It's two years since the outbreak was confirmed and while Sierra Leone was declare Ebola free in November last year, in January a new case was confirmed.

The international development charity says 4,000 people died in Sierra Leone alone while 12,000 children there were orphaned.

Christian Aid suggests that without the help of church leaders there, the numbers would have been much higher.

The charity is praising the leaders for replacing message of fear with hope.

It wants the international community to stay aware of the situation across west Africa so that affected communities can fully recover and move forward

Father Peter Conteh, a church leader in Sierra Leone said: ''Ebola is finished but not over... We are going to live side-by-side with Ebola, like [we do with] malaria.''
