Donald Trump has re-shared a social media post in which someone declared that the former US president is only second to Jesus.

Using the platform Truth Social that he created, due to being banned on Twitter and Facebook, Trump "re-truthed" a post by another user on Friday which read: "Jesus is the Greatest. President @realDonaldTrump is the second greatest".

The post included an image of a painting of Jesus.

This isn't the first time Trump has alluded to being like Jesus Christ. While speaking to reporters about trade with China in 2019, he said "I am the chosen one".

Last week, Trump, three of his adult children and his family company were sued for what New York state's attorney general called a decade of fraudulent misstatements of property values to secure favourable loans and tax benefits.

The former president has been posting furiously on Truth Social about the lawsuit since the announcement on Wednesday.
