US President Donald Trump has shared a tweet that suggests he’s “heaven sent” after former president Barack Obama “kicked Jesus out” of the country.
On 28th December he shared a tweet from January 2018 from a man who said he believes Mr Trump “was heaven sent in order to save and protect the most gracious, benevolent, and in turn, prosperous country ever. God bless him and his family.”
The tweet accompanied a meme of a man depicting Jesus holding suitcases with the text “(Obama) kicked me out, (Trump) invited me back.”
The tweet, which Mr Trump replied “Thank you!” has been met mixed reactions.
Some people condemned the president for agreeing with the statement.
One person tweeted: “Trump is gas lighting his followers and he is using Christianity as a weapon and to manipulate. Wow! He’s a dangerous man.”
“If he is the role model for Christianity, I think I will take a pass. I grew up as a Christian and was taught it is truly about loving one another...his behaviour and actions are a far reach from the teachings of Jesus Christ,” another tweeted.
However, many of the president’s followers praised him for his support of Christianity.
“Thank you Mr Trump for letting us be Christians without fear of persecution again!” one person tweeted.
Another said: “100% right -- and I am a committed Christian, pastor and theologian!
Donald Trump embodies all the character traits which the Bible condemns of the 'Man of Lawlessness' and 'Man of Sin' -- 2Thessalonians 2”!
