Earlier this week Pope Francis released the Catholic Church's encyclical on the environment.
The Church of England is also focussing on global climate shifts and has emphasised that fasting and prayer for one day can offer the earth some relief.
It calls for dioceses and individual parishes to encourage prayer and fasting for "climate justice" and backs "eco-theology" and "eco-justice" courses for clergy.
William Fitall, General Secretary of the Synod suggested this could include teachings about how to care for creation.
