The church attended by Daniel Anjorin, the 14-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in a knife attack on Tuesday in north-east London has released a statement.

Jubilee Church London posted on its Instagram account: "It is with immense sadness that we share with you the news of the sudden and tragic death of one of the members of Jubilee Youth."

"We continue to provide every pastoral support as needed by our church, and we call on all members of our church family and beyond to pray for the family at this very sad time."

They concluded their statement saying: "We are trusting that the comfort, peace, and strength of God be upon all the family at this time."

Daniel's family has told Sky News that the death has left a "gaping wound" in the family. "No family should have to go through what we are experiencing today," they said.

Anjorin attended the same school as Grace O'Malley Kumar - the Nottingham University student fatally stabbed last June.

On Wednesday, Bancroft's private school in Woodford Green raised its flag to half-mast in recognition of the pupil's tragic death.

A statement from the school described him as a "true scholar" who had a "positive nature and gentle character".

It has been reported that one of the police officers involved in the attack almost lost her hand.

Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer have also paid tribute to Daniel and thanked emergency services.
