Lucy and Peter Nickson married at Selby Abbey on Monday, around 100m from where local people watched the River Ouse overflow under closed bridges in the North Yorkshire town.
Newly-wed Lucy Nickson said that she had a sleepless night watching flood reports and worrying whether her guests would find their way to the church.
However there was a full turnout for the service and the hymn Shine Jesus Shine was performed.
Lucy Nickson said: "It was pretty stressful, certainly from last night when the river was getting really high in Selby.
"I was up all night on my phone checking the Environment Agency's website.
"We thought it may flood but, luckily, we got the news at about four in the morning."
She commented: "My lovely husband decided to call me at nine o'clock last night and tell me that Selby's flooded. So I was a little bit panicked last night.
"We had a different way to get here but, other than that, all our guests have managed to make it."
She finished: "It was not quite the night I expected. It's been a whirlwind but I've loved it."
Water levels on the River Ouse running through Selby began to drop on Monday but a number of roads in the area remain closed and severe flood warnings remain in nine areas.
