Christians 'hiding' their faith in refugee camps

by Hannah Tooley

Reports from refugee camps in Europe are suggesting some Christians who have converted from other religions are being singled out and are living in fear.

Speaking to The Express, Dena Kasravi (not her real name), a Christian convert from Iran who now lives in Germany, said: "If they find out, I will be fair game.

"Everyone will have the right to destroy me.

"Some Muslims even think it is their obligation.

"I can't get rid of the fear."

She spent years attending illegal Bible groups in Iran, a Muslim country, before making the trip to Germany.

Another Iranian woman said that a man from Syria questioned her every day about why she does not wear a headscarf and or cover herself.

It has been claimed that security guards at refugee camps in Hamburg have told Christians to keep their faith a secret.

A secret church has been set up at the camp but no one openly wears a cross or reads from the Bible.

During the Muslim celebration of Ramadan, people were asked to sign a list if they were taking part.

On the other side, there are concerns that some refugees are converting to improve their chances of being granted asylum in Europe.

A report from Christian anti-persecution charity Open Doors, said more than 80% of Christian refugees had suffered at the hands of Muslims at refugee camps.
