Sir Gerald Howarth, who's also the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Egypt has been speaking as all UK flights to and from Sharm el-Sheikh remain grounded as a precaution - leaving thousands of people stranded in the resort.
Last week a plane belonging to a Russian owned airline went down with all 224 people on board killed.
Metrojet bosses said the disaster could not have been caused by human or technical error and was the result of an "impact".
Some have suggested that an Islamic State affiliate may be responsible.
Speaking about the decision to stop UK flights, David Cameron said: "We cannot be certain that the Russian airliner was brought down by a terrorist bomb but because it's a strong possibility it is right to act."
The Russian authorities say it's too early to begin reaching conclusions.
The country's president Vladimir Putin is promising a thorough inquiry.
Sir Gerald Howarth said there's a concern of what happens next if it's proved to be a bomb. Speaking on the News Hour, he said: "The one thing that Mr Putin does not have to do is to worry about going to the Russian Parliament to get permission to take international action. He just does it"
The development comes as the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi meets David Cameron for talks at Downing Street.
A number of religious freedom groups have called for the persecution of believers to be put on the agenda.
